Mobile computing and communications lab is established in PEC in collaboration with TCS. This lab provides facilities for developing web applications, mobile payment systems, mobile security protocols and other mobile applications. The lab has facilities to conduct diploma and certificate courses (Industry oriented) to graduate and post-graduate students. This lab will be helpful for not only to the PEC graduate and post-graduate students for their projects and research, but also to develop commercial projects in future.

The objectives of the laboratory are:

• To raise the level of research in the areas of mobile computing, cyber security and information assurance

• To facilitate students to enter this field

• To contribute to the training and research needs of cyber community

• To foster international cooperation and collaboration

• To enhance the industry awareness of the research and implement the results

• To conduct certificate courses in the above areas

At PECMCRL, research is going on in the areas of designing and implementing network security protocols in the mobile environment. Other research areas include quantum cryptography, Biometric encryption, and Digital Signal Processing (DSP).

Dr. Vijayarangan, and Dr. N M Batta of TCS are guiding the research programs. Talks are underway with organizations like Mobiprise, to get projects which are of interest to the national and international bodies. Training programs are being developed in the areas of Mobile computing and communications, Information Security.

The achievements of PECMCRL (Pragati Engineering College Mobile Computing Research Lab) are:

2011-2012

• A paper titled “Implementation of Certificate-less PKI using Open Source libraries” authored by the members of the MCRL has been accepted in ICNEAC – 2011 (July 08 -10, 2011). (Refer Appendix 1 for abstract)

• A project on Mobile security protocols has been developed in association with TCS as a prototype implementation of research work, and has been demonstrated at the University of Washington, in the ICIW 2011.

• S V Ramanamurthy has been selected as a review committee member of ICIW-2012, 2013. (refer Appendix 2 for details)

• A paper authored by Dr. N Vijayarangan, S V Ramanamurthy and Tomesh Jain has been accepted for Publication in the International Security Conference in Adelaide, Australia (refer Appendix 3 for abstract)

• PECMCRL members have stood first in the Infosys Aspirations – 2020 programming contest in both regional and state levels and secured 6^th position at the National Level

• PECMCRL members have been selected for the National finals of the ICPC (International Collegiate Programming Contest) held at Amritamai University at Coimabtore and stood 61^st among 150+ teams from IITs, IIITs, NITs and other reputed institutions from all over the Country

• PECMCRL members have successfully developed applications in the latest areas like NFC (Near Field Communications), RFID (Radio Frequency Identification), Mobile Cloud Technologies.
